The Shelter for Hobbits…

Shelter 23 – 17.08.2018 – APAC, Cadaval, Portugal

Firstly, I’d like to say a HUGE ‘Thank You’ for everyone’s support over the last few days! Because of this and your wonderful generosity, I am able to carry on this incredible journey, so thanks again. πŸ˜πŸ™

Now, about those Hobbits! 😁 I’m 5’7 and in the modelling world I wouldn’t cut the mustard, not only because I’m not beautiful, but because I’m too short. 😞 Well, models going to THIS shelter be warned. In fact, anyone over 5’5 watch out, because this shelter is full of Booby Traps only petite ladies and Hobbits can escape! 😯 I turn up, hair braided, slick and neat, ready for some work. Within 30 minutes I looked like Worzel Gummage after fighting a crazed murder of crows. Washing lines, netting, wire mesh and tops of doors, all strategically set at a height of under 5’5. As a complete coincidence, the height of all the other lovely ladies fell way below that mark and they looked on with complete confusion, as I head butted my way through the day! πŸ€” So, in my front shelter picture (taken on Day 2) I’m wearing a cap, and although you would think it’s just to look incredibly cool, it’s actually essential protective head gear! Game On! 😜 There’s about 60 dogs and they are WELL looked after. Yummy rice is on the menu daily, so after a run in the central play area and you’ve cleaned their kennel (crouching to avoid Booby Traps), they are only too happy to return and chow down. Isabel comes every day and is any dogs dream. Nice food, cuddles, a brush, a bath – they receive it all and in return are lovely dogs. She was my dream too and I loved bending down to give her cuddles. 😍 In fact, most of my time was spent stooping, so after each shift I would gladly have paid people to grab hold of my arms and legs just to stretch me out again! Oh the bliss. But, as we know, I don’t have any money, or knowledge of people working in the body stretching industry, so crumpled up I remained! By the end of the week I was tired, but happy to have visited such a homely, loving shelter. πŸ’• I think I might also have lost a few inches too? Or maybe I just needed to stand up straight again?! 😜 And just like ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ my journey and story continues, as I Quasimodo on to the next shelter…😊🐢🐾 Thanks again for keeping the dream alive. 50 Shelters in 50 Weeks! πŸ‘ https://www.facebook.com/apac.animais/
